This was the road

We took Donkey Creek Rd off of 101 and drove out to the East side of Lake Wynoochee. Following the road north past the lake, we took the first left over the bridge and followed a very rough road for about 1 hr until we reached the turn off for forest service road 400 on the left.

Access to Olympic National Park from the trail at the end of rd 400 which eventually meets up with Graves Creek Trail out of Lake Quinault.

The road was really, really rough near the top, and we even lost a tire to a large rock!

Sun and Surf Run in Ocean Shores

This weekend is the annual Sun and Surf Motorcycle Run in Ocean Shores. Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts ride out to the coast and show off their bikes. There are stunt riders and all kinds of gear and other paraphernalia at the convention center. The bike parade on Saturday morning is a must see!

Ocean Shores: Awesome place for Ice Cream

There are so many different places to get ice cream in Ocean Shores! My favorite ice cream shop is the Peppermint Parlor located by the go-carts. The Moose Tracks flavor is my favorite. (complete with chocolate moose droppings) There is also a new organic ice cream shop on Ocean Shores Blvd that is kind of like Cold Stone. An old favorite is Murphy's homemade in the strip mall, and even McDonald's has hand-dipped Tillamook in our beach town.

Big Cat Sighting in Olympic National Park

At the local million acre rain-forest national park, we spotted a large cat running down the bank of the glacier-fed river. Here's a picture of his footprints, really cool!
